It Is Okay Not to Have a High-Paying Job to Buy a Home
Working as a mortgage broker in Palm Beach,
you notice that there
s a common idea floating around
that you need to be pulling in a massive
salary to even dream of buying a home.
It
s a conversation
I have with people all the time,
this feeling that if you
re not on some six-figure
income,
then home ownership is just
out of reach.
And I get why people feel that way.
The headlines can be pretty dramatic
and the general chatter often focuses
on property prices,
which can seem pretty daunting.
But I reckon that narrative,
while understandable,
doesn
t quite tell the whole story.
It
s a bit of a simplification
that can actually discourage
people who might
otherwise be perfectly capable
of getting into the market.
It sets up this idea that
there
s only one path to home ownership,
and if you
re not on it,
then you
re out of luck.
The truth is
a fair bit more nuanced than that.
