Good questions to ask any mortgage broker (including me)
Choosing a mortgage broker in Palm Beach, or anywhere really, is a slightly weird decision. You're picking someone to help you with one of the largest financial commitments of your life, often based on a Google search or a friend's recommendation. It's reasonable to want to ask a few real questions first.
How do you get paid, and by whom? This isn't a gotcha question. It's a basic transparency question, and any good broker should answer it without flinching.
How many lenders do you actually deal with regularly? A panel on a website is one thing. The list of lenders someone genuinely uses week to week is another, and it's the more honest answer.
What happens after settlement? The best brokers don't disappear once the loan funds. There's a lot of life that happens after settlement, and it helps to know whether your broker plans to be part of it.
What's something you'd push back on me about? It's a slightly awkward question, but the answer tells you a lot. You want a broker who's willing to disagree with you when it matters, not just nod along.
